The Middle East scenario has been extremely volatile and the latest Iran strike in retaliation of a suspected Israel’s attack on its consulate in Syria which killed 2 senior military officers of the ranks of Brigadier General along with 5 other officers, made the future uncertain indeed.

The atmosphere was strife with an imminent Iranian strike. The US like in the Ukraine invasion by Russia predicted the Iranian attack at least a week ahead testifies the advance network of  informers and spies in the region. In fact, India, the US, and several other countries appealed to citizens not to visit Israel and Iran. The Iranian all-powerful leader  Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the traditions of the region, is vowed revenge.

The Iranian retaliation has used missiles,rockets, and, of course, drones. The drone technology is mastered by Iran and was evident when Russia too used the Iranian drones extensively in the Ukraine war. Along with it, the nuclear threat too ranked high with ambiguity surrounded around Iran’s real nuclear capability. Many assume that Iran has already attained the capability.

Though the number of casualties and damage is almost non-existent in the ensued Iranian attack, the situation is most likely to become tense with Hezbollah, Houthis, and other surrounding countries escalating the threat. Israel is shielded by the latest dome technology aided with the British, and the US intercepted many of the bombarded aerial weapons and was successful in avoiding a major mishap.

The attack, as claimed by the US defense department, came from Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. All these three countries have a large number of militants and terrorist groups supported by Iran.

Iran, on its part, safeguarded itself by claiming that the matter (Of Israelis attacking Iranians in Syria) is concluded with attack on Israel. Iran had taken support of legitimate UN charter by declaring, “ Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN charter pertaining to legitimate defencse, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus”, the  mission’s statement posted on social media platform X states. But will the other parties have  the same opinion? In Particular, the US with its long time animosity with Iran and the other Arab  countries fearing the Iranian hegemony and of course, Netanyahu who from a long time accusing Iran and proclaiming it as enemy number one may use it to their own advantage. It’s unfortunate that the world evaluates the situation and fixes responsibility based on the moment of crisis. It hardly analyses the cause in the past or the consequences in the future. That’s why we forget about the treatment given to women in Iran, it’s autocratic ways with political opposition in the country,  overall human rights violation, gagging of the press and a control over freedom of expression; and a democracy chanting US hardly pressurized a butchering friend immediately and does so reluctantly afterward.

Even the education or the values we are taught with says ‘try to learn from the history’ and we say unless we forget history, it will repeat itself ! The cycle will spun endlessly, pulling and crushing generations under its weight. Revenge is satisfying the ego and crooked faulty justice, giving birth to new revenge urge!

US President Joe Biden had already reaffirmed the ‘ironclad commitment’ to the Israel ( I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm Amerca’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity  to defend) and said he is convening the meeting of G7 for a combined diplomatic response. European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrel said that this is an unprecedented escelation and a grave threat to regional security, and the EU strongly condemns the Iranian attack against Israel. The British Prime Minister Rushi Sunak said that he condemns  in the strongest terms  the Iranian regime’s attack on Israel. France is also a part of coalition, which guarded Israel in yesterday’s attacks. China said that the countries with influence should come forward to de-escalate the situation. China aided Iran when sanctions were imposed on Iran, but as per a CNN news report, its under investment in the region broke the Iranian expectations. Before the Hamas Israel War started, China diplomatically was very active indeed and was successful in bringing together the opponents. But it fades from the scene. The US lawmakers are also in quandary over  military aid to Israel or to Ukraine or to Taiwan!

Israel is already engaged in war with Hamas, and the main casualty of these recent skirmishes will be Ukraine, unfortunately!  Ukraine is already weakened by shortage of arms and ammunitions, and the Russians sensing this weakness and the confusion in Western allies created by Iranian retaliation can aggravate the situation by increasing assaults on all fronts.  In recent news, a small news piece about an Iranian aid in the tune of 200 million pounds since 2014 to the Houthi/ Hezbollah rebels is there. Was this the reason the Iranian consulate was attacked? The Middle East is such a headache to the world that the original catalyst of Western imperialism and the politics around the oil exploitation from the region is long forgotten with its volatile and regular incidents equalling war like situations and the strained relations between Israel, Arab countries and the US.

It is really surprising that the entire world had tried but couldn’t stop the brutal violence by Israel from continuing.  Initially, the international opinion was sympathetic to Israel, but the merciless killing of more than 30000 humans, including innocent children, is not stopped, and the world opinion against Israel consolidated. When the violence went on unabetted, the world was puzzled and finally ignored the shameless and inhuman killings by Israel. Many wondered what is it the Israel possesses (perhaps apart from the inhuman support of the US), which made the country to totally neglect the world opinion and continue with  life and land grab of the West Bank. Equally shameless was the support extended by the US. (and then at least, verbally opposing, the Israeli PM).

Was the attack on the Iranian  consulate Syria not deliberate? The technological excellence  achieved in both overt and shadowy means in the espionage and surveillance, making it hard to believe that the attack was a mistake. The most latest Israeli reaction that just came in is that the confrontation is not over yet. The schools are closed now, and there were skirmishes on the Israel- Lebanon border.

When the sanctions were imposed on Iran after the US under Donald Trump walked out the nuclear deal, Iran’s relations with Russia and China grew thick. What this nexus will do is not clear yet.

The instigations will continue in Houthis attacking the Red Sea traffic, Turkey, along with many Middle East countries backing Hamas, continuing confrontations on Lebanon border, attacks from Iraqi,  Syrian and Yemen strongholds of Iran backed militia and terrorists. So the situation will continue to be volatile with a bewildered and existence threatened common man nowhere to go.

As the latest news poured in, Israel bombarded the boundary area adjoining Southern Lebanon. This is the nearest where Israel can inflict damage to Iran and Hezbollah. As these types of skirmishes continue in the aftermath of Hamas’ attack,  one can gauge the caution and efficacy in the execution. The war may prove futile as Israel may not succeed in completely routing Hamas or settle on the land that it presently grabbed or drove away its previous occupants. Day by day, perhaps the US may distance itself from the aggression or perhaps stand by aiding against Iran. But one thing is  certain, the Gaza conflict is approaching the conclusive phase while the surrounding area will remain volatile endlessly. Today’s activities shed more light on the evolving picture. It is apparent that Israel is not backed by the US and the Western allies, and so also Iran. Iran isn’t backed by Arab countries. In fact, intelligence is provided by Saudi Arabia and UAE, and Jordan helped nullify the missiles fired by Iran along with the US, UK, and France.  Western allies appealed Israel not to take further action while a meeting is going on in Israel with PM, defense, and the opposition parties, too, called in. In a way, perhaps, it may help Israel to divert the world attention from the heinous destruction of West Bank and its people and also a well found excuse to drop the Raffah plan. While Iran commented that if Israel takes any further action, Iran’s answer will be more severe. Iran, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, and groups in Iraq will form one front if the war situation is imminent.
